Chess a two player board game as we know it today, was invented in India during Gupta Empire. In it's early forms during 6th century Chess was known by the name Chaturanga. Chaturanga means four divisions of the military viz infantry, cavalry, elephantry and chariotry. Some experts say that Chaturanga was a derivative of Chaturaji also known as Chaupat. In Mahabharata Yudhishtir lost his kindom and wife to Duriyodhan because he couldn't outplay the cunning Shakuni (Duriyodhan's Maternal Uncle) in Chaupat.

The Chessboard is a checkered board consisting of 64 squares (eight rows and eight columns). This board was called Astapada ( eight legs) in chaturanga.
This project's aim is to develop a Multi-User Chess Engine that will allow registered users to play against each other or against the machine remotely ( web, mobile etc).
